Fagerlund's reviews

Here I will post my reviews, of mostly Metal concerts/festivals that I've been to.

Grave + Diabolical + Netherbird, Stockholm 30/8-2012

Netherbird
Third time for me seeing these... well underground veterans I guess you could say. New drummer this time though (Fjellström of Aeon, and Dark Funeral-fame), so always fun to see if they keep their trend of having great drummers. Which they indeed do! They started the gig a bit shaky, but after a song or two they stepped up and delivered the good stuff and made a nice show indeed! Pretty good support for a band playing so early in a week-day as well!

Diabolical
More Death Metal, of the diabolical kind. I think they're a very uneven band, sometimes they play brilliant while other songs are just meh. The one thing all songs have in common though is this... rolling... flow. It's a bit like being hit by a train. They also have a new album coming so we got to hear some new songs that sounded all right. Solid set!

Grave
So this was the release party for Grave's new album Endless Progression of Souls that was released the other day. With Grave you really know what you can expect. This was my sixth time seeing them and they ALWAYS deliver. After so many years you'd think they'd got tired or something - but no they're still keeping it fresh and interesting. And it of course helps that Ola is a very entertaining front man. Tonight was a German night apparently, meaning all songs were presented in fake German. Always mixing it up!
The set-list consisted of mostly songs from the new album (I think 6 or 7) combined with a couple of oldies like the "girly song" Soulless and of course Into the Grave among others. They basically skipped the middle albums actually, but it's not a problem really. With a discography like Grave's you can't really go wrong whatever set you make! And yes, I say that despite the overload of new songs - because judging by this show this is one hell of a good album (not had time to listen to it yet though!)!
So yeah, an excellent gig by Grave as usual and with pretty good support for a Thursday as well so a good night indeed!
