Fagerlund's reviews

Here I will post my reviews, of mostly Metal concerts/festivals that I've been to.

Maim + Miasmal + Vanhelgd, Stockholm 16/12-2011

Vanhelgd
I thought I would miss these guys since I came straight from work and thus was late - but luckily for me  they were late as well! So I think I only missed one or two songs actually.
So, like the rest of the lineup this night they play oldschool Death Metal. Really is nothing else to it. Fast riffs and then groovy heavy parts just like it should be. They had some really nice songs and interestingly they mixed in some songs in Swedish as well. That's not too common in Death Metal!

Miasmal
Second band of the night, and more brutal Death Metal! They were okay, but it was kind of obvious how wasted they were. It wasn't very tight and they had really bad sound. Pretty good songs though, and I wouldn't mind seeing them again when they're a bit more sober!

Maim
And then finally it was time for the highlight! I actually didn't think I'd get the chance to see these guys unless I went somewhere else considering they're not very well-known and it's hard to get gigs in Stockholm. So this was a very pleasant surprise that I found out about the day before! Because to me, Deceased to Exist is one of the very best albums of 2011. And I'm happy to say that they delivered it live as well!
At least musically that is, because I felt like they were not that good at talking between songs and stage presence. The singer even said he thought it was embarrassing to play last with such good bands before them... But what matters most is the music of course and that was really tight and well played with really good sound as well! The set was mostly new songs which I don't mind at all considering what I think of the latest album.
Needless to say, I'm broken today. Like it should be.
