Exhumed
First time these veterans played in Stockholm! And the ticket price was a ridiculous 3€. What? No joke. Would be a shame to miss it then! Sadly it was really bad marketing for the gig, so the crowd was very sparse since no one knew about the gig... oh well!
Usually I'm not a big fan of Grindcore or that style of Death Metal... or American Death Metal for that matter. But some bands really does their thing so good that I still like it. Exhumed are one of those bands. A short description of their show would be INTENSE. With capital letters. They're extremely technical and really skilled... and they do this fast thing super good. But that's not all, they also mix it up with some pretty groovy parts as well! All though, their "slow" parts are still pretty fast compared to most other bands... heh.
So the music is good, but that's not all either! Because they have a really nice stage show! They don't take this gore and splatter thing very seriously, but take the humoristic approach... So they have this guy dressed up as a mad butcher coming on stage wielding a damn chainsaw (that's running by the way, smell of gasoline made that clear!) which he's juggling around like a maniac... and when they have a guitarsolo for a "break" and the guitarist collapsed (presumably for playing too fast) the madman comes on again with a defibrillator and tries to revive him (and some of the crowd as well...)... but it doesn't work. Instead they feed him beer and he's good to go again! Just some of the more theatrical stuff they had going, which mixed in really well with the rest. Really well done and entertaining!
I was really surprised to see them play for well over an hour as well (I think it was around 1 hour and 20 minutes), as usually these kind of bands doesn't play much longer than 45 minutes... but they had enough variety in the set to keep it interesting. And so much energy! I think that if you're into Death Metal it must be hard to not get caught up in their live show and their sound even if you've never heard them before...
And again... 3€? I paid the double, still probably the best 6€ I ever spent. Have no idea how the organizers made that happen, but I'm damn happy about it! Awesome gig by an awesome band!
