Mos Generator
First band tonight was a very beardy trio playing very proggy stuff. It was actually quite awesome. Really catchy, and really good musicians. The drummer made some really cool stuff, but the bass player was the one to really shine for me I think. And the singer/guitarplayer played and sang with a lot of feeling. It's not hard to imagine these guys as hippies from back in the days that then took the time to learn their instruments. I was positively surprised, and this was a really nice start of the evening!

Saint Vitus
So, one of those cult bands that has had some influence... Doom Metal heavily influenced by Black Sabbath. It's not usually my kind of thing really, I do enjoy it but it's not what I'd sit and listen to at home most of the time. But, it's a cult band, and quite cheap so why not?
So these guys are old, with both the original guitarplayer and bassplayer still in the line-up, and Wino on vocals has basically been in the band since '86. They've acquired a new drummer though. But really, they are old and you their stage show is just what you'd expect from old men. But that's all right, because it's Doom Metal after all. And both Wino and Dave Chandler is out in the crowd at different times of the show to get some connection going on. That's one of the advantages of being an old band though, they really do know how to connect with the crowd and are really good at it.
Old men... and this was the last show of the tour. So the faster songs are not super-tight... but luckily there's not many fast songs in the set. Heh. So if we ignore that part, then they manage to create a really nice,  Doomy atmosphere. And it sounds really good. But more importantly, it feels really good. I'll gladly dismiss any technical mistakes when they have such good feeling going on, it really makes up for it.
So despite this not usually being my kind of thing I really enjoyed the gig. Really nice!
