Circle of Chaos
First out was this Death Metal band. I wasn't overly impressed really, good drummer and the rest was decent. Nothing special to me. And also they had pretty bad sound, but that was true for all bands on this venue so...
Midvinterblot
I saw these guys (and girl) once before, a pretty long time ago! They play a nice Folk Metal style alá Ensiferum etc. Back then they only had three songs, now they played one more. And it was still the same! It sounds good, it's catchy and well made! What they need to work on though is their stage presence, some more than others. But you can still tell that they're a rather new band! But it'll come with time I'm sure.
Lapis Lazuli
Then some female fronted Symphonic Metal! This genre is one where the vocals really make it or break it... but I think they do it good! They also have really nice variety in their songs, mixing in a lot of different stuff there. I particularly liked how they in the last song had an awesome Thrash-riff in the middle of everything. It really spices things up and keeps it interesting, instead of just sticking with the typical mid-tempo of the genre!
Frantic Amber
Well, I'm losing count on how many times I've seen these girls now. And I don't really have anything new to say either! They've become very comfortable on stage by now, and you can tell they're just having fun. And since Erik joined the band on the drums I've not seen a bad show from them really. Good show, good times! Always fun to see!
And then I left that venue to go to a bar, and arrived just in time for...
The Ugly
Seen these Stockholm Black Metallers before, and well it was fast and raw as expected. They're damn good at what they do, but this style gets a bit repetitive for my taste after a while!
Tormention
Then it was time for some Brutal Death Metal from Kalmar, playing for the first time in Stockholm! Kind of weird place for a band like this to play, as it was in a bar with the tables out and everything... this was really the kind of Death Metal that just runs straight over you like a bulldozer, oldschool style. And they did it damn good! I think they'd benefited from a more suitable venue though, so hopefully they'll come back and play again! And I'm really looking forwards to their upcoming album judging by this... if they just can get it out any time soon!
Loch Vostok
It was a bit funny to see these guys doing their soundcheck... Because well, Teddy (of F.K.Ü. fame) is a short guy. In F.K.Ü. you can't really tell because all of them are short... but in this band he's head and shoulder shorter than the other guys... so basically he was on the same height as the drummer and keyboard player who were sitting down behind him! :P
Anyhow, onto the music. It started well with two nice songs, but after that it just kind of went downhill. They started getting some technical issues and I guess it really stressed them out because they kind of lost it there. With really forced talk and whatnot. It really surprised me actually, because when Teddy's in F.K.Ü. he's awesome in talking! It's too bad technical issues got a bit in the way here, but it was an all right show never the less. Fun to get the chance to see them at least! But by this time I was also damn tired and perhaps not too tolerating... it had been a long night!
