Unpure
One of those really oldschool bands that has made somewhat of an resurgence lately, possibly due to the success of Watain and such. And yeah, the current version of Unpure does even include member from Watain and Malign so...
But Unpure play that kind of oldschool Black Metal that has more in common with more traditional Heavy Metal rather than the Norwegian bands - featuring fast paced songs with melodic solos and such! And fast pace was what they kept all night, with barely any pauses at all they played for almost 45 minutes straight. Quite an workout!
I must say the venue really fits bands like this, you get up close and personal with the band at once creating a really nice atmosphere!
As for the music itself I really enjoyed it, fast paces, raw, yet pretty melodic. Good stuff!
Deströyer 666
Legendary Aussies coming to town for some Death/Thrash and to unchain the wolves! They were here a few years ago opening for Watain, and I really did like their show then so was looking forwards to this one!
Unfortunately they had technical issues from the start all ready, apparently not getting sound in the monitors and that kept going all show. Outwards the sound was good though, but annoying to try and play when you don't hear yourselves! Also they had some guest vocals for Trailed by Fire which were so loud that you barely could hear anything else... The problems really culminated in the end though, when I think a guitar cord broke right before the encore... and then when they came out again to play Lone Wolf Winter they first had to try and fix it for several minutes... They did get it working, for a while... but after the first verse KK simply put away his guitar and continued without it. It seemed like they had another song planned as well, but were too frustrated to even try it. Ah well!
But despite the technical issues it was a really nice show! They got the crowd moving for sure! Really liked the setlist as well, not a single bad tune. Apart from the guest vocals mentioned above they were also joined by Melissa (I think? KK's sister if I heard right) for one song as well for even more variety. And always nice to see Per Karlsson (Nominon) on the drums, doing a really good job!
I really enjoyed the show despite the technical issues, but hopefully they come back soon and get to play a problem-free show!
