Demonical + Aeon + Sectu + Souldrainer, Stockholm (Death Feast) 16/5-2012

So first band tonight I actually saw just a few months ago at House of Metal as well. I only watched a couple of songs then because I got bored. And well, not much has changed since then, I still find them kind of boring. But since I saw the whole set this night I came to the conclusion that my main problem with these guys is the drummer who's basically playing the same thing at the same speed in every song. So it doesn't really matter what the other two guys do, you still get the feeling that they're in the same song... Ahwell. It didn't help them that they had technical difficulties after the first song all ready either...
Sectu
After that it was time for some Technical Death Metal. Hadn't heard these guys before and I was pleasantly surprised! I'm kind of impressed by the fact that they manage to get an Egyptian touch to their sound but WITHOUT sounding anything like Nile! So both super Technical and kind of original. Really nice music!
However I think that the talk in between the songs has to be one of the worst I've seen in a very, very long time... Ah it's the music that matters anyway!
Aeon
Then Demonical came on... no wait. It was Aeon but with Demonicals backdrop! :P
And well, Aeon did what Aeon usually does! They came on and they ploughed through everything like a bulldozer on speed. I liked Aeon, and I did enjoy their set however what has always been their problem I think is that they only do one thing pretty much. They play fast as hell and there's that. It gets a bit repetitive after a while, but in smaller doses it's really good stuff!
And well, I am slightly disappointed that they didn't play the acoustic version of God Gives Head in Heaven. That'd been ace. :P
Demonical
Ah then I got to see Demonical for the fourth time! It wasn't the best I've seen them, but it was a very solid gig for sure. Also they had some problems with their line-up... first a new guitarist who did his first gig and that went fine. But also their drummer got ill on the morning... luckily they called in a replacement, and I think it was their old drummer Ronnie but I'm not sure about that. I think you could tell that he just had a few hours to prepare though, as he was a bit off from time to time. But still a good job for sure!
And sadly the sound was very bad at times... stuff even started disappearing completely during the last song... Ahwell, that's Metal I guess!
I left the gig pleased anyhow, it wasn't amazing but a very good evening still!
